On Take Care he had "Marvin's Room" as a buzz single and then he dropped 4 back to back HIT songs with "Headlines, Make U Proud, Take Care and The Motto". All those singles went Platinum and "Marvin's Room" though it didn't blow in the charts actually went GOLD. So "Take Care" blew out the gate and never looked back. This album he drops "Started From the Bottom" and it seems he's picking up where he left off from "Take Care". It's A Top 10 hit single. Then Drake goes and releases basically 4 mixtape/throwaways hoping maybe one of the catch fire and it hasn't happen. It's clear there's an issue. Why are you releasing "Started from the Bottom" in Feb but your album ain't dropping till the 4th quarter? That's too long of a gap. So SFTB blew up but no album came. If the next song don't blow then he wasted SFTB buzz. "SFTB" should of came out in May and the album should of dropped this month in August.

Because he can release the album anytime he feels like it an do his numbers...the dude is on fire, these random songs he throws out becomes hip hop events...he's not in a position where he needs "buzz"...he puts out these random songs to feed fans till he finishes the album...he dropped a random verse on a random mixtape track from a random ATL trap rap group, and instantly became a summer anthem and had half the rap game tripping over themselves to spit over the beat...of ALL the rappers on the planet, y'all are seriously sitting debating whether drake has sufficent buzz :heh: ...if he would've put that All Me track on Itunes, it'd debut top 20 on billboard next week

No matter how much Drake underperform, Fif still ain't coming back to the charts.

Technically Drake hasn't under performed cause "SFTB" was the 1st single and it did well. Also the album isn't out yet, I see him doing 300-500k but again I see a dip from "Take Care". But to the T/S point, I actually agree with him that something isn't right. Drake is releasing way to much music to try and generate buzz when he's Drake, he don't need to drop 4 mixtape songs for buzz right? It's clear they been looking for the next single for awhile.

Believe it or not, Drake may still be a beast in chart topping singles, but the likes of J Cole and Wale really put him on the ropes. Cole outsold Ye and he pretty much the front man in Hip Hop, while doing so quietly. He running this new era and even the likes of Lil Wayne is taking a back seat. The industry transition is taking place for the next decade.
