So before you make any assumptions:

1. My son is starting Kindergarten soon so he's not old
2. I have already read The People Can Fly, Anansi stories, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears, Snowy Day, and other Black kids books
3. I have a CRAPLOAD of books about Black people

#3 is the issue, I really don't know where to start. I have a big atlas of African Civilization and also a bunch of the Black American classics though I am planning on copping some more I don't have already. We have already discussed the idea of slavery (while reading The People Can Fly) and I think the question is partially prompted by me getting some of these Budweiser African King posters off Ebay and also he is reading now and is seeing "Black people" on some of the books and stuff I gave him. Also we are now in a mostly White area now so you know what kinds of images he sees around him...

I think he wants more meat (a.k.a. Black history not just stories)

Anybody have any good ideas for the first books about Black History for a young kid? I would like a mix of ADOS as well as Diaspora and African history. Thanks.
