Well, I'm not gonna say I completely disagree with what these feminists are saying. I think many in this thread are being obtuse. I listened to Be Humble this morning, and I knew off the bat that some ppl wouldn't take too kindly to his lyrics.

:jbhmm:

MAINLY because he's playing respectability politics in this song. Many on here, will view the lyrics and hear the song and be like

"What's wrong? He's praising black women with stretch marks"

But in a way, he shames the "IG types", and the gist of what black feminists are angry, is because they feel he and other Hoteps play this game of pitting the IG types against the Naturals. Many of us should ask:

Why can't he respect both?

:jbhmm:

Why should he dictate what is or isn't respectable with what a woman wants to do with her body?

:jbhmm:

Why should he tell a group of women who have high self esteem and self confidence to "Sit down and be humble"?

:jbhmm:

Many in here are being obtuse. I say this as a KDot Stan. I actually LOVE the song. But I can SEE why certain groups of BW would be in an uproar...

Breh, these same women down men over height, dikk size, beards, wallet size, having hips, being too skinny/fat, etc. Its all disingenuous and just comes down to women needing to satisfy their natural urge to complain.

If all women are queens, natural or surgical, then can Black women stop talking about the "standard of beauty"? Women care about the opinions of other women and try to impress other women...Kendrick Lamar is a non-factor.

So wait, females really getting mad 'cause breh praising Tiger Booties now??

Then these be the same dippy bytches doing the nudie flash mob shyt in public transit going "Look at my second belly. Love it, respect it". It's like the shyt's only a flaw when men like it not when they decide to empower it to fight the men who don't fukking like it.

But that's...kinda the point breh. Not saying I fully agree, but I get it.
