Got a couple records lined up when the time is right.
Vinyl will always be king.
Was thinking about pressing up a retrospective, need more time to research ins and outs.

Been thinking about getting a vinyl record collection

I have a small collection of older records that's from my mom's childhood and I've been adding newer albums I love to it periodically. It's really nice.

So whats the need of even making Threads with Soundscans numbers if people barely buying physical or digital albums?

Soundscan and all the institutions that count sales have incorporated streams into overall sales numbers for about 5-6 years now. If they didn't ppl would be selling 10,000 1st week instead of 100,000.

1250 streams equal 1 album sale from paid customers and 3750 streams equal 1 album sale for free tier customers.

They say the music business revenue is at 7.7 Billion dollars

I love the vinyl is making a bit of a comeback but My question is: how much of that are the writers, producers and artists getting??

Also why does streaming pay so little??

They are getting the same amount they got from physicals, that is what they negotiated for.

Recorded music revenue is 7.7 billion for the first half of the year, that sounds like the total revenue from just a couple years ago. Streaming is doing wonders for the music business, especially people with classics.

So are artists caking now more than ever or are they getting pimped harder than they've ever been? All of the smoke and mirrors at play when it comes to cash, streams, releases etc... makes its seem 4080 never left, just called in reinforcements.

So the music industry as we know it ended a while ago.

Now everyone puts up $10 per month to listen to music in general, then I guess the hottest artists get paid from that?

No one is hardly actually making a choice to purchase a particular artist. Like when we had to go out and travel to a store and buy an album that you have only heard one song off of so far...

For me the buying of music ended because of SOHH actually. Learned how to find them MP3s. I have basically everything I could find from the glorious 90s and they don't really make anything I want to own anymore.. so I'm basically done record shopping forever. I have no streaming service. I actually pull up alot of shyt on YT.

I don't understand how they sell porn anymore either. I'd never spend another dollar on smut... Except this hentai video game I copped recently for like $4. But that's IT.

Both I think. I think there's more money in it and more ways to generate income, but the labels gone always have their hands in the cookie jar and finds ways to maximize their profits.

Artists ain't stopped complaining about raw deals either, despite all this money making.

Ehhhh, I don't know about that. There are ppl who were signed after physicals completely declined.

Yet many ppl with classics are selling their catalogs for lump sums.
