Them shyts bout to be thrown left and right on this segment, I don't even wanna press play...
Somebody drop cliffnotes for this shyt
Basically just Clips chopping it up with Unbiased for 2 hours.
- Talks about how he got started in battling, first battle was on a street corner vs Fred Da Godson. It was on a whim, some guy just called him out
- After the Tay Roc battle, Clips linked up with Cam'Ron and tried to get a record deal popping with Dip Set from 2009 - 2011, that didn't work out obviously
- The Tay Roc battle almost never dropped. Lux was holding the footage over a beef with some other guy, Head Ice pushed for its release
- After the deal with Cam fell through, he started talking to Smack again
- Charlie had legit tension with Aye Verb leading up to their battle
- Says X-Factor kept switching from wanting to do three rounds, to one, then back to three, back to one, etc.
- Didn't want to battle Serius Jones because Serius had no buzz at the time, but did it as a favor to the sponsor
- The only battles he ever wrote three full rounds for was the first vs Tay Roc, and Aye Verb's
- Says he has some crazy good freestyles mixed in with writtens, including parts of his 3rd for Rex (didn't say which bars exactly)
- Says he doesn't prepare for most battles as much as he should. Chris cuts from the interview and said it's because people who are naturally talented also get lazy (which definitely seems true in this case) and also Clips was discouraged going into the Hollow battle from lack of promo
- The B-Magic battle was supposed to be done on Charlie Clips TV (youtube channel), then Beasley heard about it and wanted it on NOME. Clips agreed to battle Magic on NOME, but was supposed to get a big battle (probably vs T-Rex) on SM3 for $8k. Beasley agreed to this, then didn't have the $8k to pay Charlie for Summer Madness
- A fan came by midway through the interview and said what's up to Clips and took a picture. You can tell Clips is a genuinely humble and chill dude, I had the same experience when I met him
- Clips and Unbiased were chilling on a balcony in some high rise apartment. DNA and Smack were there too and both looked pretty faded
- Clips had legit tension with T-Rex in their battle when Rex went after his family
- The league that booked Clips vs Heartless (Chedda House) didn't have the money to pay him that night, so they asked him to freestyle as a favor to the fans. They said they would pay him later and only release the battle once he got paid. He said they still owe him $750, he doesn't really care any more though
- In general Clips was in salesman mode and spinning his stories, without necessarily making excuses. Taking responsibility but not completely owning up to stuff, if that makes sense
Good interview overall especially if you're a Clips fan. I got high and chilled with it on in the background
