Uh...jc/chilla didnt usher in corny battlers with no street feel, Grindtime did.

Think about the URL roster before Chilla came along as compared to today's roster. Word association wasn't nearly as big of deal, you had to have angles to win battles.

If Chilla pulled off that triple scheme shyt at NOME III vs DNA he would be looked at a whole lot differently. The venue was ready to rock with him but he just lost us.

He was doing too much with the double scheming. That shyt didn't work at all.

Having said that, I still love his first round from that night.

I think some of his best material is from that battle, but he had some material mixed in there that just didn't work.

DNA was so bad in that battle. It's a shame the consensus is he won.

The URL is giving the West Coast a huge chance.

Unfortunate Geechi Gotti isn't on the card. I lowkey feel he's one of the reasons the URL decided to even do this. You finally have someone from the West Coast who fits what you want from a west coast battler.

I think the URL (and other leagues) are making a mistake not creating cyphers/freestyles type of content on their channels. I've been saying this the past few years.

With the subscribers the URL has nowadays, I think this would bring more traffic/views than it did in the past when they use to do them.

This nygga Flex has pretty much mastered this lane right now.

I think if Smack stuck with it nyggas would be like "oh shyt you see that _______ freestyle on Smack?"

I doubt that would happen, but there's no reason why an industry guy shouldn't be spitting a freestyle on Smack if they want to show nyggas they can still get it in. The name "Smack" is more than just battle rap.

These Flex styles are becoming so serious that nyggas are spitting their hearts out. They know they can't come up there and play any games. I was saying years ago there was a lane for this.

Look at Lux. Nygga is already close to 700k.

And Flex has always had freestyles. He's just really stepped it up with the "Freestyles on Flex" series where it's just once emcee and Flex there doing what he does.

You should do a Frontline type series

Something happened to him around 2014, he got kidnapped or assaulted or found out he was born a girl or something deeply traumatic

His whole demeanor switched up and he stopped believing in himself so he went extra hard to make people believe in him, which of course backfired

I dont think it really came from that battle, I think battle rap just got more popular and so certain fans trying to be the battlers now and all they did was the current style, but none of them ever make it big anyway so, and now that style isnt even the most poppin its the shyt NWX started. You do need everything but bars still the most important, not saying word association is bars, its part of it, but piff one of his favs is pat stay like his top 5 or some shyt so keep that in mind.

That was fire. They didn't have to change the format too much, they put the cheesy little beat so that outsiders can follow along. I think this makes battle rap look a little cooler to the masses.
It's a little creepy seeing these guys with the TV makeup on but otherwise this was dope.
