China doesn't have the military capability to take Taiwan by force. It would require the great amphibious assault since D-Day.

China would of course love to. But the reality is they would severely weaken themselves attempting it.
Also the Taiwanese saw what happened to Hong Kong no way they'd ever trust China to even step foot in Taiwan.

Asia is gonna tool up anyway. That Pandora's box is already open. Taiwan is not happy about TSMC building a factory in Arizona. Both Trump and Biden been somewhat consistent on foreign policy with the exception of Ukraine.
Not saying Biden or democrats would outright abandon SE Asia, but we're not going to war with Trump or Biden in office either. SK, Japan, Phillipines, and Vietnam are aware of that possibility.

Taiwan already told the Chinese they had the capability to hit the Chinese mainland since 2003 and will strike the 3 gorges dam when its on.
