thats really all there is to the game.

One thing my pops taught me when I was young was to pay attention to how uncomfortable a lot of black folks are around white people.
We tend to stick to our own a little too much...many of us dont know how to relate to your average white corporate type...I would even say black folks are intimidated by them.

When you get to know them though...you realize they are up to the same fukery.
The owner of my agency is black...and he knows a lot of people in his industry.
He was able to get his flunky kid into any school in the state via a phone call because of all the people he knows.

He literrally asked his son..."what school do you want to go to?"
kid told him, he made the call, and the kid went to that school.
This happened after deadlines passed and everything.

A lot of Asians have the same problem.

You can’t just put your head down, do your work and expect to be promoted into upper management.

Hardly anything in life is a true meritocracy.

It’s about networking, making people aware of the value you bring to the table, etc.

Can you pass the airplane test? In othet words, would some cac senior manager want to be flying around the world with you, drinking beers at airport terminal bars, in cabs with you in remote locations, etc.?

Part of passing that airplane test is beginning with little things such as post-work beers with those cacs.
