People always talk about defense this and defense that but there's multiple ways to win. you can win with offensive team (this year's superbowl winner) or a defense (last year superbowl winner). People overrated that "Defense wins championship" mantra.

Raiders already built a decent defense, we have no skill position players on the team before this pick. Teams had nothing to fear on offense because Carr had no weapons.

Even if we got Williams we still wouldn't beat teams with our defense because we don't have an exceptional run game, nor do we have an exceptional secondary so our only chance at winning is through the offense i.e Carr.

I agree with an elite defense is better but we had NO offense either. Regardless the shyt is over, Williams is a Jet and his shoulder could have been fukked up anyway. We can pick up a good DT in the 2nd too. This isn't like the DHB draft. Cooper is going to bring great value to the squad

New England had a top 10 defense in pts. allowed and top 15 in yards allowed and they had no elite receivers. Same scenario with the Seahawks when they won.
