Whether you like it or not, The Danish Girl is one of the big movies of this awards season, and fits the mold of "the good shyt" in the sense of "the movies most talked about". Because if you look at the wide spectrum of those 40 movies, you might also get a bunch of independent movies hoping to grab a nod or two somewhere, a bunch of foreign movies (probably) and also movies that have long been out (like 1080p blu-ray rip) so the screener is literally only useful for voters who didn't catch it yet.
You shouldn't think you're going to get 40 of the biggest movies of the year, that's not how it works.
