The Lakers were the better team. It was obvious the Spurs weren't going to repeat that year. They had trouble scoring all season. Ginobili was practically a corpse in that series. He shouldn't even have suited up. He was in a walking boot right after the series and had to have surgery on his ankle. unathletic and offensively anemic veterans. The only reliable second option on that team was Parker. They had Bowen, Matt Bonner, old ass Michael Finley, old ass Robert Horry, and Jacques Vaughn's bum ass out there getting heavy minutes.Duncan's best supporting cast was from 05-07, when Parker and Ginobili had emerged as legit all stars and were healthy. They in all likelihood would've 3-peated that year if Ginobili doesn't commit a horrible foul on Dirk at the end of regulation in game 7. Some of those teams probably could've beaten the 2000 Lakers, who needed a miraculous 4th quarter comeback to beat the Blazers, and the 2002 team, who needed to refs to hand them the W in 7 vs. the Kings.

That goes both ways though. . He gets nowhere near the love these guys have gotten. People only talk about him when there is no Kobe or Bron level star to talk about. When Kobe was on top a couple years ago was anybody talking about Duncan? When Bron broke through and won a couple years ago was Duncan mentioned? No because nobody gives a fukk about Duncan unless there is nobody else left.Meanwhile Kobe hasn't played in how many months and yet people still talking about him. The whole summer will be devoted to Bron. People always acknowledge Duncan's greatness but they make sure they limit it to PF. He's never been in the GOAT convo like Kobe and Lebron.
Duncan is in the friendzone of sports stars. People go on and on about how he does it the right way and how more athletes should be like him and then turn around and completely ignore him for every egotistical and/or attention whoring athlete out there.nikkas in the friendzone don't get their tires slashed or their windows busted or have hoes cracking their phone codes.
