I hate kicking someone while they're down but Rousey really was not a great fighter at all...Holly has looked less than stellar in, literally, every UFC fight EXCEPT the Rousey fight.
Brehs who watched a lot of her boxing matches...I have a question:
Did Holly EVER stand in the pocket or was she a mover like she is in MMA? I know she didn't have many KOs in boxing but other than against Ronda, she pretty much never just plants her feet and uses her head movement in order to stay near the target and counter with heat. She did that blitz/fading kick sequence so much last night that it almost felt staged. But the 2 times that she stood her ground in front of GDR, she hurt her(the ?kick and the left hand that brought GDR to her knees).
I think at the end of the day, she's still a fighter whose only had 13 fights...she's still kinda green. But she's old and has had a ton of fights. I don't think MMA will ever see Holly at her best.
And Derrick did what to deserve the decision tonight? Half the time he was running from Silva...he got like 80% of his takedowns stuffed. His 1st takedown meant nothing b/c AS got up immediately and the 2nd takedown was nothing b/c he landed nothing in Silva's guard and Silva was actually landing shots from the bottom. Brunson only landed significant shots when Anderson was letting him tee off uppercuts in the clinch that didn't bother AS anyway. Anderson landed the better strikes...he outgrappled Brunson...the fight was being fought where he wanted to fight it and he chased and walked down DB for most of the fight. Derrick didn't try that Waterboy sh!t on Anderson like he does everybody else for a reason.
I want my GOAT to fight 1 more time...give him a prospect @ MW...Silva deserves an MSG fight.
