I live down the street from a gay bar and about 5 blocks up from a gay/trans club.

Only way an out-of-towner would know is if they were told.

They played hip-hop and house but not the same old tired shyt. The DJ's there actually play new or relatively lesser known music. I sat there Shazaming song after song

The bar around here does karaoke during the week but the DJ's on the weekend spin some hot joints trying to entice us hetero-brehs in there.
