Yo, thanks for reading. I know it might sound like some Grade A bullshyt, but I don't ever write my freelance pieces out of self-interest, it's always about the bigger picture. Barkley with a show on race (not racism, but race) on TNT called "The Race Card" is absolutely unacceptable, specially in the current social climate. The only way to force a mainstream conversation about this is to make the dissenting voice heard loud and clear. So please, for the sake of black Americans and the sake of decency share this story far and wide. If y'all post on other boards, share it there. If y'all got an ESPN account, share it in their comment sections. Know someone who knows someone who might give it a bigger audience? Shoot that person a link. Have a reddit account? Definitely share it there.

Thanks.

You can never go wrong by using James Baldwin to open a story.

:wow:

Will America ever tire of Charles Barkley’s clumsy act?

If both of you can laugh, you have a lot to laugh about. On the other hand, if only one of you can laugh, one of you, inevitably, is laughing at the other. James Baldwin

Two decades ago Charles Barkley infamously cautioned us he was not a role model. He has made as much clear again and again and again and again and again over the course of his careers as a professional basketball player and an NBA analyst. He’s a notorious (and arguably proud) drinker, an avid gambler, and an ill-tempered putdown artist. He has spit at a fan (and, inadvertently, on a child), thrown a man through a plate-glass window and — as he subsequently lie bleeding — suggested that the man deserved to die, threatened police with violence, and driven drunkenly in search of a repeat performance of the best fellatio he ever had from a prostitute.

1000 stars and 10000000000 reps.

That article blew me away.

Easily one of the best things I have read all year -- not just related to sports, but one of the best articles period.

Very well done, @Walt.
Prolific writing and profound insight.

I don't agree with everything in the article, but that's a hell of a well written piece and I do agree with a lot of the larger points. It's dope to see a clear voice and a unique POV on a major outlet.
