Im just wondering. Yall stay bringing up how white people are the majority consumers of rap. Well what about r&b sales? They flock to the music glorifying our genocide. Do they flock to the music promoting black love? Im just curious.

Nobody can answer that question because nobody will have sales broken down by demographic like that. The numbers don't exist. You just want to promote whatever narrative.

I'll lay back and relax to some Marvin teddy sam Luther Otis or isleys, or d, aaliyah, kellz, or even more modern stuff like frank the weeknd partynextdoor etc

Not necessarily 2015. Even more recent tho.. How many whites was buying albums by Boys II Men, Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, Tyrese, Brian McKnight, SWV, Tevin Campbell, 112,Silk, Toni Braxton, Mint Condition, Carl Thomas,Keisha Cole, Ginuwine, Aaliyaah, R.Kelly,Monica, etc? And @neph27 What "narrative"? Im just curious? Are white ppl drawn to traditional, soul-filled r&b (not pop like michael jackson) like they are to rap? No agenda here

Depends if its mainstream or not, if an artist had mainstream success then non blacks was buying the records.

Depends on the individual, there are plenty of people who grew up in that era who appreciate soul music, and plenty who gravitate to other genres. There's no one size fits all.

As someone who's grew up loving soul samples in rap music, it made me go back and investigate a lot of that music over time. I'm a big fan now. Beautiful music.

I sometime wonder, do Cacs even listen to R&B artists who aren't crossover R&B/Pop artists?

exactly. Thats the point of this thread. I almost didnt add Boys II Men in the list above. They were borderline pop i guess. Im more talking about true "soul" R&B type artists: Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo, Keisha Cole, Monica, David Hollister, Raheem DeVaughn, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Jasmine Sullivan, etc. Those type of artists. How many white people are buying and going to their concerts? White people naturally have a lack of "soul" so im interested in how most white people feel about that type of music. I cant imagine the average Starbucks frequenting white woman really "connecting" to a Keisha Cole or Mary J. Blige album.

White people make up the majority of this country. So any artist you hear getting a ton of radio play or that you see on tv a lot has majority white fans. i don't follow r&b so i can't name specific artists.

Some of the R&B artists you mentioned were are considered Neo Soul artists. I already assume cacs don't listen to Neo Soul. Since I been keeping up with music in the late 90's, Neo Soul artists mostly only got played on Urban AC radio. Crossing over for a Neo Soul artist is getting play on Mainstream Urban radio.

I'm wondering if cacs listen to R&B artists who are considered regular Contemporary R&B.
