I will never change my take on basic math. If renting is cheaper than owning a home as a primary residence the better financial decision is to rent and invest the difference. There are other reasons to be a home owner and the decision isn't only financial but when reducing it to strictly a financial one that's still an absolute. Now if renting is more than it would be the worst decision.

It's awesome that you are still responding to the thread and keeping it going, I just seen it today, having only read your original post, I gotta give a gem to people who might find themselves buying from a buy here pay here. They do not report to your credit and unlike actual car loans, you can drop that car right back to their lot. They don't report to credit and they will just sale it to someone else.
