No it's not an excuse it's biology. If you have an inactive thyroid then the chances of you becoming a considerable amount of weight are great regardless of your life style. That rah rah never give up speech is good but not in instances where you're trying to set a standard for women.
Why none of these thyroid problems existed in the 70's? 
I was looking at that thread about the black women in the 60's and 70's and the vast majority of them were in shape.
Are "thyroid issues" like a virus that developed a new strain or something in the past 20 years?

Fat girls aren't getting more shine cuz of social media or fat shaming campaigns. They are getting more play because they are the norm now. If you see 10 women 8 are overweight. They are what most men will have to pick from.

thyroid issues don't stop you from being skinny, it's easier to be fat and hard to be in shape thats the truth. A thyroid issue is not a death sentence for being fat and people need to stop that. It's harder to be in shape than fat and most people use medical conditions as an excuse. Out of all the big people we see on tv and in the world how many of them do you think even have a thyroid problem ?...it's not even as if half the population suffers from that it's 5% of all america.
