People are really running with the "because his name is Uncle Murda" Excuse". Let's act like these artists weren't successful:

C-Murder has a platinum album and another that went gold.

Missy was calling herself "Misdemeanor" and it was even on the album cover went platinum three consecutive times before she removed it from her name.

Killer Mike has had a semi-successful career.

Lol, cause he's ass and his name is Murder. I think Jay-z only brought him onboard because he had little traces of the 50 Cent shyt...the reckless but funny super violent shtick...he didn't have the personality or the music or the story to sell it on a large scale though.

There were like a dozen people in his lane from New York that were more talented and/or more marketable.

And even most of them never really blew up

I think he’s as popular as he’s going to get and that’s fine. There’s plenty rappers that would love to have his level of popularity

wow this was hands down the best uncle murda verse i ever heard

@FreshAIG this was a nice verse and makes me rethink my stance on him

he bodied that

I like the verse too but it doesn't change much

there wasn't a viable lane for a nearly middle aged shock jock goon rapper then or now. Snoop gave him a perfect spot. Speaks to why vision and direction matters in making music great plus not every artist need to be solo.

it changed much for me

realized he is palatable lol

just because snoop alley ooped him doesnt mean he was gon deliver lyrically

it was one of those autobiographical verses i enjoy. agreed with your post though, that stuff makes a big difference

I just watched this full interview & it makes sense now, this nikka was involved in too much fukkery to blow :dead:

nikka was damn near Kanye West protege & signed to GOOD Music but fukked it up cuz he hopped on the I Hit It First remix :dead:

nikka was signed to Def Jam with a million dollar budget & was still selling heroin :dead:

Maino a funny ass nikka btw, nikka said Charli Baltimore had him washing dishes & picking her kids up from school :laff:
