:yeshrug:I thought they was doing a sequel to ATL. And they remaking Scarface next year, so expect a new wave of hood movies to follow.

Hollywood is in love with 100+ million dollar budgets of remakes, sequels or existing IPs. Stuff that would cost studios 50 million or below like "hood films" are now just cable or streaming series like The Breaks or Tales.
These big budgets killed cinema in general not just hood movies. :pacspit: fukk Spielberg and George Lucas, they started this shyt.

My guess is it's hard for black folk to glorify the struggle when there ain't nothing to glorify..especially on a budget.

Most producers that could make the shyt interesting aren't black and/or far removed from it. So what's the point anyway?
