How in the hell did you come to the conclusion that whites were gonna punish whites for desiring to uphold an economy that was fueled by slavery?

Lincoln was all about preserving the Union. Out of his own mouth he said if he could retain the Union without freeing slaves/preserving slavery he would do it and if he could do it by freeing the slaves/abolishing slavery he would do it. He wanted the war to be over and get the country back together ASAP.

I always find it amazing how black people are accused of being unpatriotic when we speak out against past and present injustice but cacs can fly the confederate flag, maintain statutes, school names, streets, names of military bases of confederate generals, etc and it's only considered honoring the ancestors and preserving heritage but it's really about honoring traitors.

A lot of confederate military officers were U.S. military officers prior to secession and should have been executed or imprisoned for treason.
