If you straight up took the nba off tv right now it'd be a very bad idea.

TNF games have actually increased with Prime this year.
I think Apple and Google are still pretty far behind Prime in subscribers though. League might hope they would be the streaming platform to bid the most, but probably still want ESPN/ABC to be able to have a package for NBA games.

Call me an old head, but I miss when the NBA was on NBC. The dumbest thing the NBA did was go to cable tv. The NFL has games on cable, but they were smart to have network tv be the main broadcaster.

The reason why the TV networks pay so much is to keep them away from the streaming services. Live sports is one of the few things keeping TV alive.
