Something I’ve been questioning lately, where have the name of countries and continents come from, like if “Africans” didn’t come up with they home country name why we repeating it, like let’s stop referring to Africa as Africa if that’s not the real name

Issue is Black Americans are a mix of numerous African ethnicities:

Wolof
Mandinka
Mende
Fulani
Twi
Akan
Igbo
Edo
Yoruba
Kongo/Kikongo....and on and on

Then, the average Black person in America is between 10% and 30% Euro (mostly rape, sometimes consensual before Bacon's Rebellion; indentured white females + Black male slave...rare)....so throw in:

English (Saxon)
Scottish (Scottish Gaelic)
Welsh (Celtic/Briton)
Irish (Irish Gaelic)
French
Spanish (especially in LA/TX)
German & Dutch in rare cases

Yup. I have the Malagasy background + the rare WF BM marriage you mentioned via Scotland. But I’m sure there’s ancestry from forced assault on the plantations. I’m Yoruba and Igbo mostly so that’s what I look towards first for my background. It is crazy how mixed up we are. Most people around the world don’t have 20 different ethnicities in their recent ancestry. Like the average Chinese person will do a 23&Me and will just be 98-99% Han Chinese. Ultimately I do agree with the OP though. Culturally, we are Americans now, like it or not after 500 years but our ancestors were forced here.
