TOs are a problem, yes. if you cant be a great qb you have to be safe like alex last year.

but if defense is good enough, easier to be safe...

my point is even tebow and gabbert could win the sb as part of the 2000 ravens or the 2002 bucs.

On the flipside, how do yall know Alex would've never been great if he came up un the same situation & leadership as Rodgers, Brady, Ben R, Manning, and etc?

Also, how many of yall think the so called elite QB's would be great as they are if they had Antonio Bryant as they and Brandon Lloyd as they WR's, no Oline, and 2 bum ass coaches?

With a top defense, running game, special teams and Harbaugh the wizard...I think just about any QB can win a super bowl.

The problem with the Sanchezs, Smiths, Gabberts of the world is they will not win you won....they will just be along for the ride and make plays when needed. You better be perfect in all other phases of the game.

With the Rodgers, Mannings, Bradys, etc... they can win you the SB even if there are breakdowns in the D, running game, etc.

I don't take the line too literally. I think the point is....a guy like that isn't going to win you a super bowl. He may win one, but he will have a dilfer-like impact.

Antonio Bryant who had 1000 yards in friggin Cleveland the year before and 1400 the year after? You think Alex's shyt play in his first couple of years was due to bad receiver play? Is this where you tell me Norv Turner and McCarthy are poor coaches too? :heh:

Also, please don't act like the difference between Rogers and Smith is simply coaching. Please don't go that direction. Folk forget that Aaron had to sit on his ass for 3 years behind an a$$hole that didn't help him with shyt. He also had to play in his shadow and had a shyt line with no running game. Granted, he had good receivers, but you watch dude play and thing "damn, he really got coached up"? :ohhh:

You can tell who actually watches QB's and who just looks at the statline.

Wait, so Bryant had 2 solid seasons out of how many and you propping dude up? So does this mean when Smith has a 2nd solid season you're gonna prop him too? :skip:

Stop it slime, let's not sit here and act like he was ELITE or any other weapon Alex had back then.

Not neccessarily coaching, but I do think being in the product of a consistent system does help out.... A LOT. I mean damn all the so called elite QB's past and present admit that, why is it ignored when it comes to Alex? And if he was so bad, why was it so hard for those other backups to take his spot? And when they did get a chance, why weren't the able to keep the position yet alone stay on the team? (Where is Troy Smith and Tim Rattay?)

And the shot at "watching QB's vs statlines". You may have some point there. :manny: I'm a Niners fan, I watch "them" play, why the fukk do I need to watch a garbage team like Cleveland or other teams I don't care about like that on a consistent basis. If MNF game was let's say KC vs Jax, I'm not watching that bullshyt! fukk outta here! :shaq2:

My point is Bryant was a good receiver. Why does Alex need elite everything as if other QB's have that? The dude had a 1600 yard rusher. He's had Gore and VD for most of his career. He has a very good receiving core this year but barely throws to them past 15 yards (Poor Moss). Thing is...during his first 3-4 years I didn't even have high expectations...I just wanted him to be average....but he sucked. He got unseated by backups and dudes who are no longer in the league.

Being in the same system helps, ofcourse. But guess what? If you suck, your OC gets fired, and you're likely to switch systems. No one actually talks about that. How many bad QB's get to play 5-6 years in the same system with the same OC and HC? Guys like Brady, Manning, etc...stay in the same system because even when there were growing pains they showed enough ability and results on the field that the OC/HC's got to keep their jobs (or decided to stay) and hence the system stayed.

They go hand in hand, sir.

"If only he had an elite WR and good coaching". You can say that about damn near any high pick QB who didn't make it.

You're not watching other teams and players play? Should have told me that before....I wouldn't have even wasted my time replying.

I feel like you can definitely win a SB with any team that has a top 3 defense and a good offense that doesn't turn the ball over.

It's not easy, but lest we forget Rothlisberger's first SB when dude posted the lowest QB rating ever for a SB winning QB.

It is just a whole lot easier to win it with a HOF QB

is the biggest crock of shyt thats popular among NFL heads these days

so your telling me nikkas like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson you can win with, but not Alex Smith

so your telling me a nikka like Rex Grossman can get to the SB, yet you can't win with Alex Smith?

why can't you win with a QB putting up stats like this and leading a team like the Niners :stopitslime:

nikkas hatin to hate

trent dilfer and brad johnson had ALL TIME GREAT DEFENSES, the chiefs have a good D and we will be able to better gauge them after going against Seyton twice, Philly twice, and RG3.

Grossgawd did get to a SB, but had to play in the rain against Seyton and the bears D wasn't expecting Indy to run the ball like they did.

Brad Johnson was a Pro Bowler in Washington and woulda been the starter for that explosive 98 Vikings team but got hurt. Please don't put him in a class with Dilfer, especially when he's the one who finally got Dilfer's Bucs team over the hump.

Now, Trent Dilfer, he was trash everywhere he went but he had a legendary defense and opportunistic playmakers all over. Remember when already 2x champion at the time Shannon Sharpe made that ridiculous tipped catch and ran it 70 yards or something for a TD in that playoff run? Young Jamal Lewis bullying defenses. Jason Sehorn letting Brandon Stokely run free down the sideline for TD's in the Super Bowl. Dilfer just happened to be next on the depth chart. Let's not forget that Baltimore team went 4 straight games without an offensive TD at one point that year and still won it all.

Alex Smith isn't gonna make mistakes, but eventually you need somebody to make plays. I don't know that the Chiefs' D is on that level to carry a team to a chip with such an inept offense.

A year later and nikkas still saying this shyt?

Yep.

Man don't stretch the field. He turns timid. Everyone knows it. I'm a Niners fan and watched him from jump. That ain't changed since he was a rookie. Brad Johnson and Dilfer were never scared to make a throw. Mark Sanchez USED to be fearless then he started double clutching and never played the same.....the same could probably be said about Big Ben.....and Brady until Gronk got back.
