Are we speaking on gang ties or just the murder rate period?

And are we attributing all murders by stats to be gang related?

Thats the problem.
It'd be impossible to generate sure-fire data about murders that are "gang -related" and separate it from "general population" murders.
Spikes in gang murders always correlate to spikes in the murder rate, in every city, in every country.
I think its safe to say that the "OGs" as "protectors of the business-side" is a load of bullshyt.
They're just old, burned-out bangers who gained respect and notoriety from a small section of their neighborhood for whatever it was they did in their youth and lived to talk about.

I don't know what these dudes in the thread are trying to prove and to be honest I don't care. But language and context is very important in this matter because like you said this gang shyt has it rules.

There was no malice behind what she said because she wasn't trying to be disrespectful. It was a combination of a rhyme scheme and not understanding what Tookah really means. I put bread on it that she thought it was another word for weed. Basically this entire ordeal is a misunderstanding that is being blown way out of proportion.

idk if she meant it as disrespect but that shyt for real over there

i was guilty too rappin that shyt....but when you go to chicago... all that shyt sosa n em started dont be flyin in they city

sosa my nikka but that boy cant go back, idk how true but only nikka that can still shake n move in chicago is durk

its just rap lyrics to nikkas not from there(u and me)... but nikkas fam/people really den died over that shyt

i bet ANY amount of bread she wont say that shyt in chicago...prolly wont even respond

Nah, Chicago is a little more organized with the gangs than most cities, or at least it used to be.

I remember hearing about politicians, businessmen, lawyers, police officers, teachers, etc. being GD, BD, VL, etc. during my brief time there.

Those were the OGs.

Durk verse :demonic:

Bruh, I used to listen to War all the time and it never even registered to me that Koopa said. "kick in ms. Coleman door and knock lil jojo urn on the floor."

The fukkery over there is just too muuuuuuch.

its fukked up what happened to 600 tho. I liked dem nikkas. By time i got wind of dem nikkas was late 13 back when L.A got killed. Then Rondo and Cdai got locked up and Edai pretty boring after awhile, so dem nikkas was grand opening and you know the rest.

SQUAD!

A lot of lingo from that drill wave is common national slang now ("glo up", "tweaking", "thot") so I'm sure she didn't know what what that phrase meant but It's crazy how much that drill wave influenced people in my age range nationwide (i'm 21). I remember kids in my highschool that were skaters and used to have the blonde patch in their hair like Wiz suddenly started getting dreads, posing like Sosa in their pics, using Chicago lingo and calling their self savages within months of that wave blowing up. I even had to snatch my little brother up for throwing up one of those gang signs thinking it was cool not realizong he could get hurt if the wrong person saw him doing it. For better or worse it ended up being one of the most influential waves in recent hip hop history

"Smoke a hookah like Tooka" is not a national phrase though.

It's actually foul as shyt considering buddy was a teenager when he got clipped.

She's a youngin so i'm sure she's very in tune with all the Drill/Chicago fukkery.

She prolly just assumed since Tooka was dead it was safe to lob that shot, and earn some respect from certain entities in the city.

Not knowing Tooka still has a lot of nikkas ready to risk it all for his name.

Let an out of town rapper come on Funk Flex and freestyle some shyt about "smokin' something like Chinx" and the whole NYC would be ready to light their ass up.

Works both ways...

Yeah i get what you're saying. If she knew the background of that phrase and used it anway that's definitely foul but i could also see her just thinking it was just common Chicago slang like Fetty but either way she should just be more careful with her words from here on out
