Frank Miller was a favorite at around 13, but Liberty is legit phenomenal from the man. Miller's crazy as all hell, but fukk does he get race issues for a hateful white guy.

Brian Michael Bendis I know he get's alot of shyt but his Ultimate Spider-man and Daredevil run's
Rick Remender his Uncanny X-force run got me back into comics plus his Venom run with Flash was so fukking good and I'm enjoying his Uncanny Avengers a lot.
Mark Waid dude is a legend Kingdom Come,JLA, and now his Daredevil run
Ed Brubaker dude made Captain America a compelling character for this day and age there would be no Winter Solider movie if it wasn't for him.
Grant Morrison All Star Superman is all that needs to be said for me but he's got even more GREAT stuff.
Warren Ellis Transmetropolitan Nuff said probably the most consistent run I've read.
Garth Ennis Preacher nuff said.
Chris Claremont his X-men run is the stuff of Legends
JMS I'd said for his characterization of Spider-man before the the OMD shyt
