so heres a solution if the rock isnt gonna be a guest ref, and if they dont book cody/roman at EC (which undercuts the rumble):

roman/rock, cody/roman all happens at mania - night 1 night 2

either cody wins the title night 1 which leaves a broken distraught roman for the rock at night 2

or roman beats rock night 1, feels even more over confident and unbeatable and loses to cody at night 2

this way you still get to finish cody story and establish him as a new main event star, still get roman/rock, everyone wins (roman gets bragging rights of double main eventing etc)

only downside is the WHC not getting main event but that happens, last year the tag title main evented night 1

You know they've done this before right? The time Cena did the surprise return at Rumble '08 and challenged Randy a month early?

I mean, do we really want to unify the titles again? Has that ever really worked in the two show era? The first time in 2002 didn't last a full year. The run from 2013-16 was ass. The run from 2022 to last year was even more terrible.

The only reason the belts were not unified now is Roman's schedule. If you have a full-time champ, I don't think you need two.

It’s how it was booked to get to this point. Cody wins the Rumble and is pointing to Roman after the match telling him he’s coming for him. 6 days later and it’s “Well you know what nevermind I don’t really want it anymore”

Like I said it’s too early to say whether it makes sense or not since they have yet to say
1. The match is official
2. What the stipulation is
3. Why Cody did what he did
So let’s all relax and Let it play out until atleast Cody gives his explanation

Because when you pay attention to what's being said instead of the sound of your fingers typing, you tend to hear things differently

Cody said... he wants THAT title. The one Roman is holding, the one with the lineage dating back to he 60s.

He made clear that he is going for Roman.

...but not at Mania.

So he's not wrestling Seth for his title.

There is a show happening between now and Mania.

So if he's not wrestling Rollins at Mania, and he's not wrestling Reigns at Mania, but he's made clear that he's not challenging for any title but Reigns' with his Rumble victory... when do you think he's fighting Reigns and what do you think he's doing at Mania?

And I could very well be incorrect, but it looks like we're getting Rhodes/Reigns a month early and Rhodes is coming into Mania defending.

Why is it ok for the Rock to face Roman at EC but it’s not ok for Cody to do it?

Also if Cody does finish his story at mania then what? Where does he go from then?
What is his new motivation?
