Maybe Nitty's music would be better if she was from that era. In the era we are in, I don't think it's even possible for a female rapper to put together a project that I would actually like.
I always felt the biggest problem with female artist nowadays is that their music is only catered to women. They only make music for women. Back then, it was completely different. Their music was directed towards men, just like men directed their music towards women.

Nitty's content would have let her fit in with Native Tongue/Digable Planets but she doesn't have the production behind her or the charisma to pull it off now. If she hooked up with the right producer that directed her in crafting songs, she could do well but until then, her music is kinda flat.
The only woman who makes good music that is accessible to men at the moment is Rapsody. She's got 9th Wonder and a team of dope producers around her so her music can translate across gender lines.
