What the fukk music on Apple commercials got to do with anything. Hip Hop is the top music genre in the world, there was a time that when only rock and country music was getting placement on major brands. That's a win for hip hop, hip hop sells and they tapping into it.
what it has to do with it? Nas and Jay Z initially were only promoted to Hip hop fans. They only had a hip hop platform. Jay Z was damn near 30 on his 3rd album before white amerikka accepted him and it was his worst album at the time. Nas got accepted on his 2nd album. Their best released didn't do big numbers or have major promotion. You said Illmatic and RD were promoted as much as kendricks. Nas didn't have Apple commericals that white folks could hear on NBC/CBS/ABC. That's what it has to do with it. I don't know if you're dumb as fukk for real with a 3rd grade reading level of comprehension or if you're playing around. Either way, I feel sad for you that you can't comprehend a simple rebuttal to an argument that you start. The cracker think we're all stupid and every time you type something as if you're not in understanding of a simple explanation, you're not helping against their argument

And hip hop fans NEVER dictate what's hot. If that's the case, then ALL FOR ONE in 1990(and album that damn near everyone had but didn't sell shyt) would have sold about 2 MIlion. White folks like Jimmy Iovine, dictate what's hot. What if he doesn't want you promoted, good luck....

so stillmatic ain't a classic now? y'all nikkas man
No. Stillmatic and IWW are examples of retroactive classics. Stillmatic only got 5 mics because BP got 5 mics. IWW was dope, but once Lupe called it his favorite, every motherfukker in the world started calling it a classic.
RD is Jay's retroactive classic, because he talked it up as an equal to Illmatic.

Hold up, RD is a revisionist classic but KL has 3 classics? Do u really believe KL has done anything remotely close to RD? He couldn't make an album like that with a blank check budget. I don't give adamn how much crackers have on tv.
Posts like this is what confuses me about the Kendrick hype. I always hear people say he has all these "classics", but when compared to actual classic material, his albums don't stand up. I even read a comment saying Kendrick hasn't even touched The Documentary by Game yet. It just tells me that his albums aren't as good as people claim. I can't get into most of dude's music, so I can't fairly judge.

There you go with that bytch shyt again, Bad Boy had Clive Davis behind them, Rocafella had The biggest record company Island Music Group behind them, but you bytching about Jimmy. fukk outta here.

You conspiracy nikkas are straight corny.

Hip Hop fans dictate what's hot, how in the fukk you think DMX blew the fukk up, hip hop fans was tired of that jiggy shyt and got behind DMX.

How did you think Rawkus Records blew up, it was the streets, after the coastal wars they went back to substance.

nikkas was tired of 50 cent bullshyt and got behind Kanye.

Hip Hop fans always dictate the culture.

You nikkas give the white man to much credit, scary ass Negro's

nope, RD didn't have Def Jam behind them. RD initially came out on Rocafella under Freeze Records imprint. Aint no nikka was on the Nutty Professor soundtrack which was Def Jam. Def Jam got behind Jay on his 2nd album and reissue RD and that's when it started getting sales in 99 and eventually platinum finally in 2003.

Rawkus records blew up on the indie level but they weren't selling millions of records or having mainstream success. Even when Lyricist Lounge was on mtv. Hip hop fans post 2000s haven't dictated shyt becasue a lot of college radio stations, that didn't have a playlist, were being phased out. My college phased out their hip hop show and made it automated and WKCR(station that hosted the most famous radio show off all time) made it a rule that only students could DJ at the station which ended the show in the late 2000s. So we're not talking about merely blowing up, we're talking about blowing up, crossing over, and being forced on the masses because someone white has to make the money back they invested in you. Aint no hip ho fans dictated shyt. Jimmy Iovine said himself that the Chronic was finished and he heard it and decided to push it. Had he not got behind it, it would not have been as universally accepted as it is today. These are facts. Great music alone doesn't = sales. An album that I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about, not even get trolled on Amazon is Breaking Atoms. EMI didn't get behind Wild Pitch like Capitol got behind Hammer in 91(and I fux with Hammer. He cool with me). You can be the most talented singer/rapper in the world but that shyt means nothing without a white man pushing u to the masses. Is it a coincidence the highest selling hip hop albums of all time are ones that Black AND WHITES bought? Aint no "hood classics" doing/or have ever done 5x platinum or Diamond(physical sales. fukk that streaming shyt). Is it a coincidence that 5 of the top 10 selling hip hop albums of all time are on Interscope?

You sound like the white man, hip hop fans, heads always dictate the culture and what's hot. Rawkus Records was the direct results of that, nikkas wanted pure hip hop and was tired of the bullshyt, Black Star, Monch, Mos Def, Reflection Eternal, Soulquarians

5 of the top 10 highest selling albums of all time are on interscope records. Is this true or not? Rawkus had its run and it was a great little run, but folded. Why weren't more songs like this produced and marketed by powerful white men?

I aint gotta give a cracker any kind of power. He's already got it all. Everyone wants to talk about powerful black owned labels, but these labels are going nowhere without some powerful distro or white backing. And most of the time, we find out later that some of the blacks dont even own the labels fully and are just figure heads(Aftermath, Bad Boy).

nikka we just got powerful black albums from D'Angelo Black Messiah, Kendrick TPAB, Common Black America Again, Solange A Seat At The Table and ATCQ, and again we dictate that direction..

And those 5 top selling albums could it be Death Row Albums, and they had Dr. Dre and West Coast was hot at that time, America was fascinated with Death Row and West Coast music it was the sound that dominated.

Like I said nikkas like you give the Whiteman all the credit

When RD dropped nobody from fans to hip hop publications, music critics called it a classic

When GKMC, TPAB, Damn dropped fans, hip hop publications and music critics deemed it a classic, that's the difference
To be fair Reasonable Doubt came out when competition was tight compared to K. Dot's era

What label was Death Row on? you can take as long as you want to answer the question. 5 of the top 10 highest selling records of all time are on Interscope records. Is that a coincidence?

The Midwest
Consensus is the difference between classic and personal classic.
American Gangster is my Personal Classic.
IWW is my Personal Classic.
Consensus is these are great albums but not classics.
