That dog recognized the baby was already dead and did what most house pets would do after their owner was dead for a while and it smelled dead flesh

A 6 week old puppy is barely figuring out what they are themselves, that dog didn't actively plan on eating a baby human while the adults weren't looking, why was it even that hungry to even try to nibble on a corpse that quickly to begin with? Most house pets wait until they actually starving before they humor eating a dead owner.

People need to go back to keeping dogs outside. Sleeping with a carnivorous animal roaming around your crib while you and the baby sleep is crazy.
