slightly off topic but....

People care too much about animals. I find in my experience, people can only really care about two things at a time. Everything else has to share a tertiary part of their attention space. Meaning if the first two things you care about is yourself and your family, then your friends, fellow man and animals share that remaining space.
And often times it becomes all too obvious where those last three rank. I've seen white people scoff, when an innocent black person is shot to death, but damn near come to tears when someones stupid dog runs into traffic and dies.
