Apparently the cop, Len Davis, beat some innocent person. Kim Groves, Derricks grandma, was a witness and filed a complaint against the officer. Someone told Len what Kim did and he killed her. It appears Derrick got older and killed the family of the cop.

Idk breh they all knew they couldn't just go back to their families houses, tough situation, you literally have to go somewhere you've never been before to stand a chance and can't get close to anyone that knows you

Meanwhile the entire area is seeing your face and name on the local news and probably have a reward up for anyone who snitches on you

Their best bet would've been to hop trains, covers a big distance pretty quickly and won't just randomly stop so you have more time to think without disruption + railroad tracks go through tons of wooded areas, they would've likely ran into other train hoppers at some point or passed through super rural area where people keep their distance and mind their own
