1. There are CBP officers posted on major highways near the border; they are plugged into federal and state databases so they'd be able to look up fugitives

2. The border is the most patrolled area in America right now. You got DHS, state national guards, US military personnel doing patrol. You can't approach the border without getting caught

3. No indication that Mexico does not cooperate with the US on gringo fugitive identification and extradition

I think your best bet is getting to some non-MAGA state and laying low for a while.
