It’s like each state puts their own sadistic twist on punishment. For instance, folks at Washington State in GA are locked down because people have been killed in The hole, 2 murders in two weeks at the prison. In Wisconsin, Waupau was on lockdown for damn near a year straight.

the state of Alabama is building a billion dollar prison that will already be at capacity when it opens fist day.

if I’m not mistaken Louisiana detention centers are also holding ICE detainees.

bt if you’re interested in reading, check out the Napoleonic code that NOLA is based on. Basically, they can detain you for up to 60 days on suspicion while they investigate but if no evidence or witnesses are found, you walk, amd the double jeopardy clause protects you. So that contributes to the framework of how that society operates.

Apparently the cop, Len Davis, beat some innocent person. Kim Groves, Derricks grandma, was a witness and filed a complaint against the officer. Someone told Len what Kim did and he killed her. It appears Derrick got older and killed the family of the cop.
