Apparently the cop, Len Davis, beat some innocent person. Kim Groves, Derricks grandma, was a witness and filed a complaint against the officer. Someone told Len what Kim did and he killed her. It appears Derrick got older and killed the family of the cop.

Additionally, Groves pleaded guilty last year to two separate manslaughter charges, one that stems from the 2017 killing of Woodrow Smith in the Desire area, and the other the 2019 slaying of Tyrone Francis in the Lower 9th Ward.
