10 years ago today the blackout in the Northeast happened

I just got home after an orthodontist appointment. If it happened a few minutes earlier, I would have been stuck in a hot, dark elevator

And the heat that night . At least we had plenty of ice, thanks to running out to the supermarket in Starrett City (those b*stards had power ). Thankfully, the power came back on the next afternoon.

I remember that summer, I was 13.. nikkas was outside all day during that blackout

Before smart phones and tablets I was bored as hell, I remember I was at a them park and they closed it and no buses were running , had to wait like 3 hours for my mom to pick me up

I remember that day as well because people were actually outside neighbours talking for tjr first time

I was in China town on my way to Jersey when we noticed the traffic lights stopped working.
The city was still on terror alert, so it was a bytch entering the Holland tunnel as cops were
only letting a few cars through at a time..

That blackout was really fun. My block and the apartment complex near it came together to have an evening BBQ and folks let off some leftover fireworks.

Cops did pass byes but let us party in the street. Hot 97 had 50 Cent blasting through our speakers.

It was great night with family/neighbors and next morning I played ball all day with my friends and neighbors. I love Queens brehs

It was a few days until our water stopped running and it got hot. at Con Ed
