So Timb being humble, why Timb being humble when Devante went Suge Knight on they asses when he was slapping Ginuwine and Timbaland in the studio and letting his dogs chew on they asses. That's the reason Missy, Playa, Ginuwine, Timb, Sugah, Tweet left with Timbaland and changed their name from Swing Mob to Bassment, because Devante had them in the basement recording.

That's not being humble that's telling the truth

Because time heals all wounds, and Devante is the reason we know who Timb is today.

I don't know what was going on in Timbs mind in 2011, 15 years after he left the basement.

Timb never said he didn't produce the record, he said that was the first time you heard his "vicious drum patterns."

What I do know is, I was one of the biggest Jodeci/Uptown records heads on earth during their run, and I'm very familiar with Devante's production style.

I'm also very well versed in Timbs production discography as I was a big stan of his at one point as well, being that he's incredible, and also from my area.

Years before Twitter was even invented, I was running around telling anybody that would listen that Timbaland produced No More Pain, without knowing for sure that he had any involvement at all.

It's really obvious.

Did Devante ever even make another beat on anything after that record came out?

The Bachelor didn’t do a lot for me aside from like 3 songs...

I also agree with the following quote from a critic on AllMusic 100% Ginuwine being stronger than The Bachelor musically:

Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic stated that the album included "more inventive productions and a stronger set of songs" than Ginuwine's previous work. Erlewine gave credit to producer Timbaland's instrumentals but still remarked that "Ginuwine remains the star of the show, thanks to his rich, inviting voice."

I'm not discounting Devante at all.

Breh is responsible for this, so he's forever good in my book.

But, just like all other famous producers, I feel like he ran out of steam somewhere around '95 for whatever reason, and lived off all them nikkas you just named to keep the creative juices flowing, once he started fukking with his nose heavy.

I don't think PAC would have bigged up Devante so much on No More Pain if he knew he didn't produce it. Timb definitely had his hands on that record but 100% ghost producing? I don't believe that.

I'm sure Devante came into the studio with that track ready made, and being that he was the big name at the time, and running with Death Row heavy, that's who Pac shouted out.

Nobody outside of VA knew who Timbaland was until Aaliyah's If Your Girl Only Knew dropped a month before Pac passed.

Listen to the track again.

You can hear Timbaland's voice all on the track, trying to whisper soft enough so that you didn't know it wasn't Devante.

All that "chic a chic ahhh" shyt he did in the late 90s is all over the second half of the track.

You know why Devante stopped producing it was Suge Knight, he lost the love and desire, that beat was one of Devante last beats.

Devante is a musical genius, Prince even took a liking to him and you know Prince don't fukk with everybody. Devante wrote, produced, and played all instruments on all Jodeci albums, even Al Green went and got a beat from Devante.

Devante had the next Motown with Swing Mob. Producers Chad Hugo (Neptunes), Stevie J, Timbaland, Darryl Pearson, and had Static Major with Playa, Sugah with Tweet, Sista with Missy, Ginuwine, Timbaland and Magoo

Ginuwine first album with production from Devante that never came out but leaked was a classic

Timbaland is a genius but he ain't fukking with Devante, Devante is a musical genius that changed the sound of r&b

That's a fact.

From '92 to '95, Devante was that nikka.

But in '96, Timb came and changed the sound of music in general.

Every R&B producer from '97 to '00 was doing their best Timb impression.

Most pop music from '00 to today, all Timbaland.

All this new age R&B poppin right now, from Drake to H.E.R., that "40 style of production", that's all Timb.

Like I said breh, I could never shyt on Devante, but the proof is in the pudding.

That sound you heard on The Show, The After Party...., as well as No More Pain, was Timbaland.

Which is why Timbaland took off crazy from that point on, while Devante faded away into nothingness.

No hate, it is what it is. :manny:

Timbaland surpassed Devante in 1996. I respect Devante and the work that he put in. He gets respect for mentoring Tim and Da Bassment, but that's where it stops.

Tim came out in '96 and changed the game with One In A Million and The Bachelor. From there, Missy and Timbaland & Magoo had successful albums. Then you had Tim blowing up Nicole Wray with "Make It Hot". Total and SWV had hits produced by Tim. Janet Jackson, Babyface, and Usher had him lacing remixes. He became one of Jay Z's go to producers. Missy and Ginuwine both had successful sophomore albums helmed by Timbaland. Aaliyah had another huge Timbo banger with "Are You That Somebody". Tim did all this in like 3-3.5 years. Nearly every Bassment member blew up with Tim where they were stagnant with Devante.

I could never support a Devante>>>>>>> Timbaland argument because Tim did more in 3.5 year span than Devante. Then considering Tim successfully producing artists in other genres for like two decades makes the gap between them wider. The student surpassed the teacher. That's not a shot at Devante, because that's the aspiration of any good teacher.

Devante Swing Dairy of a Mad Band and The Show, The After Party, The Motel

Come on breh.

You know Timb ghost produced most of that shyt.

Timb gave Pac one of his best beats, and Devante got all the credit.

Give this shyt an honest listen, knowing now what Timbs sound is, and tell me who you think really produced it....

Drugs ain't the only reason Devante immediately fell into obscurity, while Timb became the most innovative/go to producer in hip hop/R&B, right after this dropped.

The true master was revealed.
