This. People underestimate how much money that is.

Whatever it is that you're chasing, you can have it shipped in to your town if you have 100mil. Also, 100mil is the kind of money that allows you to radically change your local environment or influence municipal politics beyond the ballot box.

I’d take the $100 million if it was a full state instead of a city. Not sure about just one city though, but I’d probably still take it. I can afford to fly any family members to me, and that’s really the only reason I would feel like I “have” to travel anyway. I’m not big on traveling anyway.

Again, $100 mil but you are confined to 1 city the rest of your life, absolutely no exceptions. Cant even step a foot outside city lines. But that city could be Mobile, AL or Manhattan, NY.....your choice.

Or $10 mil, you are free to go and travel wherever

100m and I'm going the other way. I'd choose a midling city surrounded by the usual huge swaths of unincorporated land you find outside the metro bubble. Cities expand their city limits by annexation regularly as it is.

I'm going to do what every other wealthy person does and influence the system. I'll push new laws through these puppet legislative branches and gradually expand my city. In the meantime, I'm playing real life Sims by building a City tailored to my desires. People struggle to balance renovations on their homes because of the options and details involved, I'll never be bored with the challenges of crafting a City.

By the time I'm dead I'll have a lineage with tendrils throughout the State, Country, and globe that will be historic.
