I'm not really shocked by the loyalty of the moderation staff because they get paid to post and moderate those forums. Well, I take that back, maybe the mods don't, but the admins do.
There comes a natural sense of loyalty when you're "employed" or chosen as caretaker for a certain place. When you see it dying, you feel a sense of failure. But ultimately, mods like Tre, Exo, and Mel had no bearing on where the forum was headed. They were like hall monitors, and we all know hall monitors had no say in the school operation or budget. So they shouldn't feel like failures, they shouldn't need to defend the forum or in the end even remain loyal to it. Because they didn't come in as mods, they were posters there first, and posters they remain(ed). So the site failed them as well as it did us.
SOHH is a community, not a physical address. Continue to participate in this community. Don't be tethered to a failed website.
