Show fell off. Do they still do freestyle battles? I remember the old school cats like backland, jin, poster boy, etc. Seemed like the same videos were winning every week. I think it was bow wow that had one song constantly on top. It was all teen r&b in the #1 slot. I preferred watching tigger and rap city the basement. I agree with whoever said they need to bring back The Box. But honestly I think the music video isn't the same anymore.

I used to watch it daily around 3rd grade.
Bow Wow and Nelly used to run that show.
They had to retire 'Ride Wit Me' and 'Puppy Love' from the countdown because they kept charting.
Music videos readily accessible on the net along with streaming services helped kill off shows like this.
AJ and Free were also hard to replace. Good times, though.

It bothers me that people are celebrating this. I guess they don't understand how this will affect urban artists. Our artists are already being phased out with the change of Billboard charting and radio formats. Even though I don't like half of the crap music that they played on 106 I have to admit that the show was still an outlet for exposure for artists that wouldn't get exposure any other way.
