Money is not gonna go to what performs better

Money is going to what's cheaper and more available... I.e. PS4 for now. Once exclusives start dropping plentiful, then we'll see whatsup.
:what: No. The PS4 in a number of games has had the better version. I can't see into the future. Yeah, maybe devs will learn something about the XboxOne architecture and be able to release every game in 1080p at 60fps. For now though that's not the case so if I'm in the market for a console, and I know both consoles have mostly the same games, barring some ridiculous price difference, I want the console whose versions are consistently outperforming the competition. So far that's been the PS4. As I stated, it just so happened that the PS4 was also cheaper. It's not even a question which one I'm picking. And I'm thinking this is probably the general logic a number of consumers are using, thus the sales figures.

Now if you just have some sort of bias or personal preference then get what you want. Do you.

The only devs having problems with 1080p/60 are the ones creating multiplats mainly. Once they do understand the architecture, the graphics will get better like they did for EVERY system. Play an earlier last gen game compared to the later ones and tell me what they looked like?

If I'm in the market for a console it's for the games I want to play.

fukk, even the Halo: Masterchief collection >>> PS4... Including a remastered TLOU.

anyone that tells you that they can spot the difference between a game running 720p (or insert res. lower than 1080p) and 1080p is a fukkin liar....30fps and 60fps is the only thing you can spot because of how smooth the latter is.

no you can't

Been tweaking a lot of the games and emulators on my PC today. Yeah, it's definitely noticeable (especially on my new 1080p TV). Frame rate is still more important, but there is no need to lie.
1080p fills my screen pixel-by-pixel while 720p/1080p just plain doesn't.

GTAV is looking :scusthov: on my PS3 because of the resolution alone (720p). Hope the PS4 version will be 1080p.

That's the easiest and quickest way to test resolution differences. That was the FIRST thing me and my cousin noticed off the bat was how crisp the image coming from Windows was. Heck, even console main menu's look clearer.

Well that's your opinion. And apparently most people don't feel the way you do. Like I said, there are a lot of multiplats that I want to play. They are on both systems and those games have consistently performed better on the PS4. So you saying they figured it out quicker on the PS4? Both systems have damn near the same architecture. So if I'm in the market for a system and I know this, and you don't have a particular preference, it should be PS4 every time. If these devs figure something out and they are all of a sudden able to turn up the juice on the Xbone, then yeah, your decision becomes a bit tougher.

Don't know why but switching resolution on PC is much more noticeable than judging resolution on consoles.

720p games on ps360 look clearer/crisper than lowering to 720p on PC.

Darks souls 2 on my PC at 720p looks horrible, but it doesn't look that bad on ps360.

Switching between Asscreed 4 on PC and X1 was almost unnoticeable to me, but switching from 1080p to 720p on PC was a huge difference.

Don't know if it has to do with upscalers or the way console output the picture. But judging different resolutions on PC is not equivalent to judging them on consoles.

there's a few factors. I tested it on my desktop, where it's going to be very obvious because of all the text. it wouldn't be so noticeable 'in game'. you also have to consider what device is handling the scaling. the nvidia drivers default to the display, but you can switch them to have the gpu handle the scaling (and I do, because I do a lot of downsampling)

there is something to be said about the quality of different scalers, but ultimately it's not magic. to go from 720p to 1080p it needs to 'interpolate' more than twice the pixels. however good the scaler is, it just will never look as good as 'crisp' as a true 1:1 display

Never said anything about magic or anything being as crisp as true 1:1 :manny:

Just saying switching your desktop and going :scusthov: 720p is not giving you an accurate idea of how games might look on consoles.

It's the same reason why games like UFC and Asscreed released at 900p and no one noticed until digital foundry said it and ubi/ea released a patch. Same reason why games like KI and Ryse were shown off at e3 and people including digital foundry thought they were 1080p until a formal analysis.
