Nah.
Stories matter in every company. It's a TV show.
Depends on what you’re looking for…. And presentation matters.
Lucha Underground was a presented as
TV show and they did best what certain companies try sooooo hard at or want to be great at so bad … but been failing for decades.
NJPW presentation is more real sports natured, everything is in the ring and the announcers are excellent at narrating what’s going on they don’t need backstage skits, acting and everyone kicking promo’s before matches. Hell they have like 1-2 promos per show and it doesn’t take away from nothing cuz everything in the ring is typically so good.
Those are 2 extremes and some companies lean more towards one extreme or the other.
Me…. I like the NJPW direction or shyt that leans there.
If I wanna see “acting” I think there are plenty of movies and series that hit that mark.
At this day in time….. 20+ minute in ring promos or back stage skits are exhausting.
Have a great match and let the commentary team fill in the blanks to tell a bulk of the story with some of the occasional shyt.
