The fight between Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller vs Bogdan Dinu has been finalized. It was announced last Saturday at Madison Square Garden, just before the start of the Jacobs v Derevyanchenko fight card.

The thirty-year-old Jarrell Miller (22-0-1, 19 KOs) of Brooklyn, New York and the thirty-two-year-old Dinu, of Romania, with a record of 18-0 and 14 KOs, will face each other for the vacant WBA secondary belt on November 17th. The winner will have an opportunity to fight Anthony Joshua. Both Miller and Joshua are promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, who signed a long-term deal with DAZN, the new sports streaming service.

Apparently, the WBA mandatory challenger, Fres Oquendo, turned down a $500,000 offer based on concerns over the mandatory VADA testing for the fight scheduled just a few weeks away.

According to ESPN, Manuel Charr is expected to be stripped of his title due to a positive drug test that resulted in the cancellation of a September defense. If that is the case, Miller vs Dinu will become a regular heavyweight WBA title fight.

“I’ve seen this guy in camp with Anthony Joshua numerous times. They’ve had great sparring together for two or three camps,” Hearn said of Dinu. “He’s a very, very talented undefeated heavyweight.”

“I know he’s coming to fight. I know he’s in shape,” said Miller. “He’s been in training camp. I’m gonna put on a show. I’m going in for the kill. I’m really motivated. Come Nov. 17, I’m always going for the knockout. My ultimate goal is to fight the bigger names in the division, Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder — you know I can’t stand that guy.”

Junior Middleweight Brandon Rios recently signed a multi-fight contract with Hearn. Rios (34-41-1, 25 KOs) is scheduled to face Ramon Alvarez (27-6-3, 16 KOs), the older brother of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez. Both fighters are thirty-two-years old.

Nico Hernandez (5-0, 4 KOs), is also scheduled to fight in Kansas, with an opponent to be announced later. The twenty-two-year-old Flyweight prospect was the 2016 US Olympic bronze medalist in the Light Flyweight division.

The card was originally scheduled for Atlantic City, New Jersey, but was changed to Kansas once the main event was finalized and the card was more complete. Both Rios and Hernandez are natives of Kansas and are excited that the fights will be held in their home state.

Also featured on the card are Claressa Shields (6-0, 2 KO) of Flint, Michigan and Hanna Rankin (5-2, 1 KO) of Scotland. Shields is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a unified women’s Middleweight world titlist. She will have an opportunity to defend her championship and also to win the WBC Middleweight title.

Gabriel Rosado (24-11, 14 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA, and Luis Arias (18-1, 9 KOs) of Milwaukee, WI, are scheduled for a middleweight fight. Rosado is a two-time world title challenger and Arias suffered a loss last November to Daniel Jacobs.

This promotion will be held on Saturday, November 17th at the Kansas Star Casino Arena in Mulvane, Kansas. The doors will open at 5:15, with the ringwalk scheduled for 10:00 pm. The event will be broadcast live on DAZN.

Now my thoughts on this card...Summed up with this one smiley: :hhh:

This might be the most random mashup card I've seen in a min

Big Baby in a Main event role once again :francis: versus an undefeated guy who has had only 18 pro fights in a 10 year span :mindblown:...and this apparently will be for the WBA "regular" heavyweight title because the previous holder popped dirty for roids. Dinu was pencilled in because 45 year old Fres Oquendo who hasnt fought or won a fight in 4 years thought he wasnt getting paid enough :mindblown:. Just a whole bunch of nonsense that begets more nonsense.

Claressa Shields vs Hannah Rankin might actually be the most competitive fight on the card. I also find it weird that Claressa is fighting on DAZN. Showtime has damn near aired all her fights. You'd think they would have done something to lock her down.

Then we got a faded Brandon Rios who prolly shouldn't be fighting any more facing Canelo's brother Ramon who is even more struggle filled than his younger brother. Get knocked down and lose a non disputed decision to a shot Margarito brehs.

And finally we get Gabriel Rosado vs Luis Arias. Rosado and his career never recovered from almost getting killed in the ring by GGG some years back and last time Arias was on TV he stunk it out against Danny Jacobs. That fight had me walking back and forth in my living room so I wouldn't go to sleep watching it :laff:.

The young prospects though will be entertaining enough to watch

But nah this card is not it lol

Jarrell Miller Weighs In At 315¼ Pounds, 78 More Than Dinu

By Keith Idec

Jarrell Miller came in slightly lower Friday than the career-high 317 pounds he weighed for his previous fight.

The undefeated heavyweight contender officially weighed in at 315¼ pounds for his 12-round fight against Bogdan Dinu on Saturday night. Romania’s Dinu stepped on the Kansas Athletic Commission’s scale at 237¼ pounds.

Despite the significant discrepancy, Brooklyn’s Miller will have less of a weight advantage against Dinu (78 pounds) than he owned over Tomasz Adamek. The 30-year-old Miller (22-0-1, 19 KOs) was 90 pounds heavier than the 41-year-old Adamek (53-6, 31 KOs), whom Miller knocked out in the second round October 6 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

The 32-year-old Dinu (18-0, 14 KOs), one of Anthony Joshua’s sparring partners, will fight for the first time in the United States. The 6-feet-5 contender is ranked No. 9 among the WBA’s heavyweight contenders, but hasn’t beaten a ranked opponent during his 10 years as a professional.

The Miller-Dinu fight will be the main event of a nine-bout card DAZN will stream live from Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas.

Women’s star Claressa Shields (6-0, 2 KOs), who’ll defend her IBF and WBA middleweight titles in the co-featured fight, weighed in just under the middleweight limit (159½ pounds) before Miller and Dinu came to the scale Friday afternoon. Shields’ opponent, Scotland’s Hanna Rankin (5-2, 1 KO), officially weighed 158½ pounds.

Earlier Friday, Philadelphia’s Gabriel Rosado (24-11, 14 KOs, 1 NC) weighed 158¼ pounds for his 10-round middleweight match against Luis Arias (18-1, 9 KOs). Milwaukee’s Arias came in at 159¼ pounds.

Also Friday, Brandon Rios weighed 151¼ pounds for a fight that’ll mark the former WBA lightweight champion’s return to his native Kansas.

Rios (34-4-1, 25 KOs), of Oxnard, California, will meet Mexico’s Ramon Alvarez in a 10-round junior middleweight match. Alvarez (27-6-3, 16 KOs, 1 NC) also weighed in at 151¼ pounds.

This card will take place near Wichita, Kansas, the hometown of 2016 American Olympian Nico Hernandez.

The 22-year-old Hernandez (5-0, 4 KOs) weighed in at 112¼ pounds for his eight-round, super flyweight fight against Houston’s Josue Morales (8-7-3). Morales weighed 113½ pounds.

78 pounds heavier? :hhh:

Also, watched the DAZN weigh-in during my lunch. It wasn't very professional. Ak and Barak were not very prepared. They got people's names wrong and were just stumbling through questions. You could hear the director switching and counting down when they were switching from the stage to the interviews. At one point, they randomly cut to Ak and Barak talking to PBC prospect Chris Colbert and Colbert was like "I'm Team Haymon!" and Barak was like "That's the only team". The lack of professionalism was incredible:wow:

They better shape up before the Canelo telecast, this was some serious amateur hour shyt. Not just Ak and Barak, but the telecast today was garbage. I'm surprised by their complete lack of effort these days, Eddie Hearn was saying they were going to produce shoulder programming before each event and they've produced...nothing. They've produced 2 min clips of Claressa Shields training and Jarrell Miller feeding some ducks. They gotta do better.
