I wasn't all that surprised about Kovalev's game plan and how he fought. He took a similar approach against Yarde and on the Alvarez rematch too. Basically, that's what their tactic was with McGirt in all 3 of their fights so far.
Use the jab a lot, be active but don't commit to all punches. McGirt knew Kovalev's main problem is his durability and stamina so he went with a tactic that minimalized exchanges and relied more on jabs and activity than big shots. Kovalev has a world-class jab and good fundamentals back from his amateur days so he could even make it work against good opponents like Alvarez or Yarde but it proved to be too few against Canelo.

Nah Liston was a mob fighter and that punch wasn't even landing hard. Liston took way stronger punches before from the likes of Cleveland Williams in his prime. The fix was in.

It was a quick punch he didn't see that landed right on the chin. Archie Moore landed a similar punch on Marciano if I'm not mistaken.

These are facts, Thurman ain't the same, Kovalev was on ice skates from the sound of the bell, even his clinching looked weird like he didn't have his feet up from under him, everyone could see Kovalev did not have a good performance

Trout, someone who actually fought Canelo, also said it looked like a dive. My theory on life is if more than 2 people say the same thing, then there is a high possibility that it is true.

I'm not saying it was a fix. You can't consciously hit the stanky leg like that; that's all reflex. I will say the whole situation looks suspect. This fight was purely a ploy to get Canelo up to p4p #1, and it worked.
