It seems to be a cyclical trap in the wrasslin biz, and lowkey I feel the fans are complicit to a degree
It was funny back then because guys like Diesel, Razor, Bret who were called "The New Generation" weren't that much younger than Hogan, Savage and Flair. Now most of WWE's main event scene is in their mid to late 30's or early to mid 40's.

It also helps that we didn't know guys ages back then so in a sense they were "new".
