Before i can be shocked by this i first have to overcome my surprise they were even prosecuted in the first place.

The police originally dimissed the case and officers falsified evidence to keep anyone from getting in trouble. The government in charge of the state, Gujarat, at the time was ruled by the BJP, the far-right Hindu Nationalist party.

The victim appealed to the National Human Rights Commission and the Supreme Court, the case got national attention and outrage, and as a result the perps got convicted by the feds. That was back when Congress Party (the party supported by Gandhi and the rest, basically the liberal party in India) was still in charge nationally.

But now the state and national government both are ruled by the far-right. So the state can pull this shyt off and the feds aren't going to do anything to stop it. In fact they think it will play well with their base because anti-Muslim feelings propel their base.

Y'all want to see how bad it's getting, this is from earlier in the year.

In the state of Assam they've been doing tons of anti-Muslim actions for years now. They're declaring any Muslim without official papers to be a foreigner (and most poor people in India don't have papers) and deporting them. So people who families can trace back to hundreds of years before the country of India even existed are getting kicked out of the country. They're systematically going into Muslim slums and evicting them.

In one particular eviction, they came in to demolish the homes and ruin the poor people's entire lives and a few of the poor fought back. Of course the police slaughtered them. But then the way they treated the man after they shot him was insane.



The video is one of the most disturbing scenes of police brutality I've ever seen.





The guy who does the flying stomp-kick on the body isn't even a police officer. He's a far-right provocateur journalist, basically their Andy Ngo. If Trump's followers get their way, this is the direction America will go in - people like Ngo will be openly riding with the cops instead of just with the Proud Boys and they'll go right into Black/Brown/Muslim communities and do whatever they want.

Was most likely Sikh. Hindus typically don't wear turbans. Sikhs usually don't hate Muslims but they get offended when ppl assume they are Muslim.
