12 Years A Slave Press Conference, Steve McQueen Disgusted By Interviewer

There's nothing wrong with Slave movies. You just have to balance it out. You can't say slavery is a part of our history when you never actually show the other parts.


In recent history, there has not been one Hollywood film about a black kingdom. Not one. I've seen alot of movies about the Chinese, Mongols, Aztecs/Mayans, Native Americans, Persians and obviously Europeans but, I can't remember seeing one movie about anything in Africa....you got the Mali Empire, the Ghana Empire, the Songhay Empire Media is a powerful tool. So powerful that you have idiots in this thread who think our history starts and begins with a crusty boat.

Cacs don't wanna see movies about black excellence unless a cac throws up an assist so they can feel good about these damn movies. like the help and the butler. As soon as u do a miracle in St. Anna or Redtails nobody gives a shyt, yet that is American history as much as anything else. Also that pussay of a man Terrance Howard should stop playing a black man. He is offensive with his effeminate bullshyt.

We have to make these things happen ourselves. I've thought about doing black historical flicks but in Animated form so that we reach the little youths them cuz early on in life all they fed is cactastic brainwashing trash. The only way these could fail to find an audience is if we fail ourselves and not support.

I have yet to watch any of his films, but this makes me want to catch all of em.

All of his reactions are cuz you can tell he can't help, but react honestly.

The reason why there are so few slave movies is because as I understand it, slavery kinda sucked. But at the same time, these movies get the go ahead because portrays Blacks when they were not in their most ideal circumstances. Do you think white audiences are going to feel ashamed about how they've treated Blacks for centuries? Nope. That's why you don't see any Holocaust movies being made. You think jews want to be reminded of that? McQueen said it's a love story, love stories don't need to be wrapped up in the blanket of slavery though. Django was a love story as well, but again, showing Blacks in a position of servitude seemed more visually appealing. How many mainstream Black movies have been made where the narrative actually takes place in the 20th or 21st century?

Like I've stated before, where's the slave revolt movies? Nat Turner can't get some screen time? What about the Haitian Revolution, no one wants to tackle that subject matter?

This whole "one man's quest to find humanity in the sea of the inhumane" diatribe is becoming tiresome.
