Basically. nikkas think just because they watched a player growing up and that player wants to be a coach that it means they have the ability to be a coach. Cats on here were campaigning for Brian Shaw to get a head coaching gig for years, merely because they were familiar with him. He gets that job and sucks at it. Might be why he couldn't get the job in the first place

I always felt during the times that the Knicks were in between coaches where we fire a coach and have a temporary coach, we should've just let him do it. Like that time we fired D'antoni. Like the season was already a bust and we had no coach so they let Woodson fill in. Just let Pat finish the season. They even let Herb fill in for awhile from what I remember.

Ewing had an entire run with summer league and all it did was show that he can't engage with guys at all. He's a solid one on one mentor but he's not a guy you give 15 players to and be hands off with.

There is no way you can tell all that when all he had to work with was a summer league roster.
