From an engineering side, I’m suprised we don’t have real time satellite imaging and early warning systems from orbital satellites which can notice the water rising/water rate and predict their path. I actually think this would be an easy thing to program once you have the data on hand….:patrice:

They have specialists who get paid well,to watch and monitor the weather around the clock
Was an evacuation order even issued?

The problem is, that we're still not taking climate change seriously. Of course you could have these things in place, but to put them in place, you need to be aware that you need them. It's been raining for weeks in that area, there were warnings that people should stay at home, but nobody could imagine how bad it was really going to be because something like this didn't happen before. Germanys self perception is that natural disasters happen elsewhere, in the third world, not a highly industrialized G7 country.
