I was thinking the same thing. The average rappers doesn't care about the community, which is why they rap about a bunch of shyt that destroys the community (Selling drugs, getting minors to do their crimes, the type of guns that ppl should get, etc).
That's why I'm pretty indifferent about Young Thug and Gunna being locked up
The little cliques in Philly are going to war with each other and it's getting out of hand.
I live in the suburbs outside of Philly but I go every other day for my mom and family. I have never seen it this bad in my lifetime. The older folks even saying it's worse than the crack era because the shootings are happening everywhere instead of a concentrated area.

I can’t take this shyt man. It’s getting worse. I try my best to keep my family out of crowded areas cause this random shooting shyt is insane. Anytime I’m out with the family I’m on high alert. If it’s just me ok but I can’t see my babies getting hurt for no reason.

Public policy (stricter gun laws) is only one part of the solution. I'm not advocating taking away guns. But a level of gun control will certainly help. The black market will always be there, but criminals are able to get them cheaply due to the proliferation of guns in America. They are simply everywhere and too easily accessible and thus cheap (relatively speaking) to obtain.
The best action to take would be a punitive approach; stricter sentencing for people caught with an illegal weapon, or using said weapon in the commission of a crime. There is a real issue with recidivism among felons as it is. I can't count how many rap sheets I've seen where the perp has an unlawful possession as a felon and somehow they are out in five years. Guess what? They go right back to committing crimes with weapons. Do you brehs really want people like this living in your communities?
The other part to it is a cultural one. Black people need to learn to settle their differences through talking. Brehs are ready to kill literally over nothing..all the music that's being pushed out is almost sanctioning black on black violence. It's trendy to harm your fellow black man at the slightest grievance and then brag about it. People will say I'm scapegoating rap, but the reality is that it is a cultural medium. And that medium is one that is all about smoking opps and rolling on pills. That's literally all you hear these days and it definitely plays a part on shaping the psyche of an impressionable young man or woman. "But sportscribe, there has always been gangster rap since the 90s". Sure, but the music coming out these days is more targeted. Music is one side to the coin and is merely a symptom of a larger problem.

Philly been crazy, its just now its anything goes due to the following:
- Inflation
- Lack of job opportunities
- Schools being closed down and lacking funding
- Youngins being influenced by Chicago Drill culture
- A shytty mayor
- No hope

I can't speak on the black expat community since I'm not black. But I too have seriously considered emigrating. shyt is getting worse and worse in this country. Can live cheaper and more peacefully elsewhere. The US isn't as good as it used to be and who knows if it ever will be again. I too have seen more and more people posting on social media about emigrating to other countries and building nice homes there. Definitely interested in doing that one day.

I'm not sure i understand your question. Governments are in place to sustain society. I'm not saying they have to do anything above and beyond what they are doing now. It's been this violent before. Murder rates in the 70s-90s were here or worse, the difference was the social contract was different. You might not end up rich in this life, but at least you could get a job that paid a livable wage.
I cosign everything you say, but when you got blocks from different parts of the city cliqued up and at war with an opposing side.... its basically gang violence at this point.

'Gun control' will do nothing. Criminals will simply find ways to get them off the black market, which is what they are already doing... or they will 3d print a gun.
Philly already has some of the strictest gun control laws in the United States. Then the rhetoric is they will just be imported from other states... ban them in all the states, and guess where they are going to come from? That's right, right across the border, but the Democrats will never go for border control
Try to confiscate all the legal guns and you're just going to create a massive black market where only the rich with their private security or criminals own weapons. Middle class and poor legal citizens would have to face jail time if they then obtained an illegal weapon to protect themselves.
