nikkas gotta stop hyping up these dudes coming out in 2017 and 2018. These next 2 draft classes have no future superstars. Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum, etc. are not surefire #1 overall picks. They are not future superstars. Neither is Michael Porter Jr. or Deandre Ayton.
I know nikkas are gonna jump on this so I'll preempt the attempt to derail this thread that is almost certain to occur.
There are 2 types of superstars:
(1) There are Type A superstars. These superstars are the kind that can be the #1 option on a championship team. These players are very rare. In fact right now in the NBA, there are only 2 Type A superstars: LeBron James and Kevin Durant. As much as I like Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum, neither can be or will be the 1st option on a championship team.
(2) Type B superstars are guys who put up superstar numbers and get media love. They can lead you to the playoffs and maybe with the right cast can get you to the conference finals but they'll never be good enough to win a championship being "the man". This is where guys like Russell Westbrook and James Harden fall into. They're superstars in the sense that they are top 5-10 caliber players but it's unlikely they can win a championship being the best player. This is where I rate guys like Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball, and Jayson Tatum. Players I like and have supported.
RJ Barrett and Marvin Bagley fall into the rare Type A superstar category. Other than LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the only other players I have in that category RIGHT NOW is Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
